Yvonne Haines

Yvonne has been a patient of the Pinn Medical Centre for some 40 years and involved with the Patients’ Association as both a volunteer driver and deliverer of the Pinn Piper. Her professional life has been primarily in education as a Teacher and English Examiner. Although no longer working in a school she continues to work as a tutor and advises parents on educational matters. Since 2001 she has served as a Magistrate, sitting as Chair in the Adult, and Youth Courts. She has an additional role as a Lay Member, (representing the views of patients) on an NHS panel which considers requests for individual funding for treatments not normally provided by the NHS. This has given her a clear insight into such aspects as the Decision Making Framework and Ethical Framework of the NHS. She a particular interest in the difficulties of parents of disabled children.
